Air Dryers » Heatless type Dessicant Dryers Heatless type Dessicant Dryers
For applications requiring much lower
dew points than +2°C, dessicant based compressed air dryers are
preferred. The compressed Air gets dried by passing through a packed bed
of dessicant, which adsorbs water vapours. After a fixed time, the
compressed air stream is directed through another packed bed of
dessicant while dessicant in first bed is regenerated. The drying and
regeneration continues in cyclic manner. There are various methods of
regeneration leading to various designs in dessicant dryers. Dew points
as low as these dryers can achieve -40°C to -80°C. Directed

Regeneration in these dryers is carried out be expanding a portion of dry air to near atmospheric pressure and purging the other dessicant bed. The moisture is removed and dessicant regenerated. It is now ready for drying of air once again. Purge air loss is main disadvantage in these dryers. Salient Features:
